Sorry it took so long for me to post the race report and results!
On Saturday, May 3rd, it was a wonderful day for a race. 9 people gathered at 10 am to partake in the 2nd adventure race held at AUTEC. This year there were several people either nursing injuries or off-island. While the showing was a bit smaller than last year, we still had a great time. In the first 1/4 mile, we braved the sand, CCB stairs, several orange barriers along the golf cart path, and a cone course. We continued by crossing more barriers and carrying a sandbag to reach the balance beams. After that, we crawled under ropes and ran through more sand to the cargo net. After rolling/crawling over that, the tunnel of goo invited us to enter. After getting nice and gooey, we carried the sandbag back to its place and continued to the slip-n-slide into the harbor where we ran in knee deep water to the beer bottle challenge. Finally, we finished by crawling under more rope before sprinting to the finish.
Personally, my favorite was the tunnel of goo. Even while putting it together, I was having a great time crawling through it and gooing it. I think the hardest was the knee deep water. What a workout! This was the 2nd year that the slip-n-slide failed so that obstacle won't be back in the rotation next year.
I couldn't have done it without my helpers. Thanks Lisa Leggett who provided her timing services again. Hopefully soon she will be able participate and I will have to find another timer. Thanks for the Navy who helped me put up the barriers and collect sandbags. And lots of thanks to Miah who helped build and set up the balance beams, set up the cones and engineered the boxes so they wouldn't fall over.
Congrats to Miah who won the prize - a shaker water bottle.
