Today was the first day that I didn't think about my knee or my ankle for the entire run. In fact it wasn't until hours later that I realized that my ankle and/or knee didn't holler during my run.
The plan was to run to the beach (around a mile), swim for 1/2 mile and run back. I ended up running a little longer (about 2 miles) due to a conversation with another runner so I doubled back to the beach so I could do my swim. The swim was slow and tougher than I expected. The water was flat but I used my swim goggles instead of my mask and snorkel which does make a difference. After I finished and rinsed off my feet, I ran home using the Marine Beach - Haunted Forest Trail. I made sure to fuel properly afterward and I even debated another run! I think I will do Pilates instead because I want to run long tomorrow.
It is easy to take for granted running without pain. After you get injured, it is hard not to obsess about it and wondering if you'll ever get back to normal. I know I would keep thinking if my knee and/ or ankle is hurting because something is wrong, or if I'm just getting old, or should I get a knee/ ankle brace, or am I engaging my glutes, am I landing softly and pronating correctly. I hope this is a sign that things are getting back to normal!
